ABSTRACT

With the advent of highthroughput technology, the compilation of multiple metazoan genome sequences and large scale expression data available on various databases, these genome sequences are yet to be completely annotated. In these ever increasing drafts of the genome sequences, recognition of regulatory elements is vital as the regulation of transcription forms the basis of differentiation, morphogenesis, apoptosis, and senescence, and plays a critical role in responding to external environment. Identification of these elements in the genome is a challenging task, yet pivotal in our understanding of gene expression. Insilico computation coupled with experimental validation is the key to their identification. This paper reviews the basis and the procedure of computational analysis of such regulatory elements and presents the steps involved along with their principles and algorithms.   Read More …
