ABSTRACT

Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase (PKA) is a holoenzyme that consists of two regulatory and two catalytic subunits each encoded by separate gene. PKA is a second messanger dependent enzyme the modulator of which include factors that either activate or inhibit adenylate cyclase, resulting in an increase or decrease in the cAMP level and hence called cAMP dependent protein kinase. Protein kinase A is ultimately responsible for essentially all of the cellular responses due to the cyclic AMP second messenger system. Prkaca gene present on chromosome 8 in mouse encodes for a cAMP dependent protein kinase catalytic alpha subunit. Until now two splice variants have been reported for this gene namely Cα1   Read More …
