ABSTRACT

We present a novel, biologically realistic, stochastic and agent-based model of translation. The model is parameterized for yeast. It explicitly represents each ORF, tRNA-ribosome and mRNA-ribosome interactions. It can be easily parameterized for any organism and for any gene expression. We have performed a number of simulations testing the behaviour of the model under various conditions and compared the output to experimental data. We show that the model correctly predicts real behaviours. The results also show that ribosomes are a major limiting factor for protein expression. Read more…
