ABSTRACT

The recent progress in disease genetics and genome-related medicine has been substantial, with vast amount of data being generated. How to unify all information about various diseases at a common place has become an important issue in Bioinformatics. The goal is to create a Human Diseases Database with a dynamic website that consist of all information on all diseases with special focus on regional or ethnic diseases of India which will provide valuable data for the study of population history, genetic testing and disease association studies. PHP and MySQL have been used on Windows platform to create a database and its user interface. Its server is the Apache which can be used to host on the web. The webpage designed is a dynamic one backed by its own database. The webpage contains some of the basic features like quick search, login, biotools, index etc. Relational database model has been used to build this database. The relational approach in the database has been maximized to enhance the efficiency of the database for search, updation, back-up and at the same time minimizing the redundancy of data. The error free and easier query and search has been achieved through PHP and the inherent property of the MySQL database at the background. The logical part of the scripting makes the data mining an option for the user through this webpage [Figure 1]. Read more…
